A little about me
I’m a South Asian counsellor with over eight years of experience supporting individuals, couples and families through life’s many transitions. My work is rooted in warmth, curiosity and compassion. I strive to create a space where you can feel genuinely heard, supported and safe to be yourself.
Having grown up in India and built a life across cultures, I understand what it’s like to move between worlds, to navigate change, belonging and the quiet pull of expectations. My lived experience as an immigrant and woman of colour helps me show up with empathy for the many layers that shape who we are. I offer therapy in English and Hindi, and also understand Punjabi, which often helps me connect more deeply with people navigating similar cultural nuances. I hold space for those complexities, knowing that while our experiences may overlap, every story is uniquely its own.
I’m especially drawn to working with people who feel stuck, overwhelmed or disconnected, whether that’s in their relationships, their work or within themselves. I believe therapy doesn’t always have to feel heavy. It can also be a place for clarity, insight and moments of lightness along the way.
Outside the Therapy Room
In my own time, I find calm in simple, grounding things like wandering through nature, trying new recipes, or spending quiet moments with people I love. I also take quiet satisfaction in organizing and cleaning. It’s a small ritual that brings me a sense of ease and clarity.
-
We’re in this together, exploring what feels stuck, what’s working, and what change could look like.
-
When things feel heavy, we slow down, pause, and reconnect with what helps you feel steady and safe.
-
We’ll notice patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and relationships, and explore what they might be telling you.
-
I bring curiosity and respect to the many layers that shape who you are, including culture, family, values, and identity.
-
Even in hard times, I look for your strengths and help you build on them to feel more confident and connected.
What counselling with me feels like:
My approach is eclectic, drawing from a range of evidence-based practices to best fit your needs. I integrate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help recognize and shift unhelpful thought patterns, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to nurture mindfulness and self-compassion and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to deepen understanding of your inner world.
What guides my work
With couples, I use principles from the Gottman Method to support healthy communication and connection. My work is also informed by Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), which offers practical tools for emotional regulation and resilience.
Together, these approaches create a counselling experience that is flexible, grounded and responsive to your unique journey.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with youth, adults, couples and families across different countries and settings, including schools, universities and private practice. Each space has shaped how I listen, connect and support people through their own growth and healing.
I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Sophia College, Mumbai, India and a Master of Science in Counselling from Johns Hopkins University, USA.
I’m committed to deepening my skills and expanding my understanding as this field evolves.
